Montreal: Festival Capital of the World
60
Montreal is the second largest dominantly French-speaking city in the world (surpassed only by Paris). With a population of over 3 million on the island, Montreal is no small-fry. Having just celebrated their 400th anniversary, Montreal is a well established (and old city). Because French-Canadians love and support the Arts, Montreal attracts some of the biggest and best Festivals in the world. Recently I heard some people loosely calling the City of Montreal the unofficial Festival Capital of the World . This comes to no surprise to anyone who has been to Montreal during the summer months when there is never a dull moment.
If you plan on visiting Montreal this summer be sure to check out the local festivities. They are usually free and are a great way to experience all Montreal has to offer. This is just a short list of festivals that take place ever summer.
